Learn To Climb
Rock Climbing is one of the fastest growing sports and something I am passionate about. I believe everyone should try it at least once – you never know, you might discover you love it as much as I do.
Whether you are a beginner, improver or just looking for someone to guide you up a particular route, these rock climbing packages can cater for all levels and abilities. I will give you the confidence to progress at your own pace.
We are ideally placed close to Snowdonia National Park which is home to some of the finest rock climbing in the UK if not the world. There is also a huge variety of rock types and local environments that mean it’s actually possible to find somewhere to climb even in bad weather.
All my Rock Climbing courses are modular so you have total flexibility to decide how many days you want and the more days you book, the cheaper it becomes for you.

Trad Climbing Introduction
Climb when ready.
This is a 1 or 2 day trad climbing introduction based in Snowdonia, North Wales or the Peak District (2 days only).
This course is a great starting point for those new to the sport or those who’ve climbed mainly indoors as it is on short rock outcrops or quarried faces that have easy access to the top of the crag. These crags are known as single pitch venues because you only climb a single pitch of rock before returning to the base to repeat the process.
This course is aimed at those who have been mostly seconding routes or top roping who are looking to progress from indoor climbing to real rock
Under the tuition and guidance of myself or a collegue (depending availabilty) we guarantee you will leave a better, safer climber.

Rock Climber Development
Develop your climbing
Whether you’re a relatively new climber looking to quickly progress to leading or an experienced trad climber looking to improve your skills, this 4 day intensive Rock Climber Development course is ideal to immerse yourself in the best rock climbing venues in North Wales (some say the world).
As a new climber, The this course will give you the confidence and technical skills to get you ready for leading your first route through progressive, individual coaching and instruction.
For experienced climbers, you will improve the rock climbing skills you have already and you also may learn new ones which will make you a safer, more efficient rock climber. The grade you climb may also improve as a result of new-found confidence from this course.
Over the 4 days we may visit world famous venues such as Tremadog, Gogarth and the crags of the Llanberis Pass . If conditions allow, a classic mountain route such as Grooved Arete would be an excellent option too.
Course Content
There is no requirement for you to have any experience prior to starting the course. The itinerary for the week will depend entirely on what experience you have and will be tailored to your needs.
Typically we will start the week with a trip to a single pitch venue like Holyhead Mountain to assess your climbing and belaying ability and also go over how to be an efficient climbing partner.
We will then move on to efficient belay building using a variety of methods, more belaying, more climbing and more placing protection with an emphasis on safety.
Depending on your level of skill we will visit a sport venue and at least one multi-pitch climbing venue. The main focus will be on placing lots of protection, building belays, belaying and placing even more protection.
When you’ve learned the ability to place a variety of protection in different ways, we will look at getting you on the sharp end of the rope to climb a route of your choice with the support of an instructor alongside you.
While it is possible to run on a 1:1 basis, To get the most out of this course, it is best delivered on a 2:1 (Climber: instructor) ratio.
We will begin the day looking at the forecast and venue options as the weather will dictate where we end up. We should be finished for 4:30pm for a debrief. You don’t need any of your own equipment as it can be provided but you are welcome to bring your own to use. Ratios are 1 instructor to 2 climbers to ensure maximum learning in a realistic setting.
