Our 4 day Climber development course is aimed at those who are relatively new to climbing who want to quickly gain the skills to get out climbing safely. We will take you through the preparation for climbing a route – equipment, venue choice, route selection; the technical skills – belaying, anchor selection, placing protection and rope management; Safety skills – Abseiling, simple problem solving and retreating from a route. Being an intensive course some basic climbing experience is recommended to get the most out of the 4 days (tying in, belaying, putting on a harness).
All of our courses are based in and around Snowdonia National Park. You will be taught by one of our highly experienced and qualified Mountaineering and Climbing Instructors (MCI). The following list is a sample of what will be covered during the week.
- Venue choice
- Using guide books

We will begin the day at 9am in a cafe to look at options as the weather will dictate where we end up. We should be finished for 4:30pm for a debrief. You don’t need any of your own equipment as it can be provided but you are welcome to bring your own to use. Ratios are 1 instructor to 2 climbers to ensure maximum learning in a realistic setting.
